As the European Citizen Science (ECS) project enters its final year, we are celebrating our achievements through a distributed series of events across Europe. Organised in collaboration with the Slovenian Citizen Science Network and Public Libraries, and as part of the ECS final event series, A celebration of the ECS archipelago, we are organising a day of collaboration and capacity building. This event focuses on the journey through the development of the ECS digital meeting point, the citizenscience.eu, showcases citizen science impact stories, delivers training on citizen science and highlights the importance of public libraries in creating community and enhancing scientific literacy. At a time when public engagement is increasingly recognised as essential to rebuilding trust in institutions and tackling mis- and disinformation, the connections we build within the citizen science ecosystem matter more than ever. Sharing what works and what doesn't strengthens the community's capacity to deliver the scientific, environmental, and societal benefits that make citizen science a genuine return on investment for Europe. This summer, both the ECS and IMPETUS projects reach their conclusion. Before they do, we want to invite the citizen science community to come together to reflect on how these projects have supported citizen science across Europe and to celebrate the real-world impacts this work has made possible. The event will also provide an opportunity to hear from new and established citizen science projects, alongside stakeholders and decision-makers, ensuring that the momentum built can be sustained and that science continues to serve the society it represents. Building on the Citizen Science Archipelago series from the ECS project, this gathering reaffirms a founding principle of the citizen science community: no project is an island. Mutual exchange is not simply a nice-to-have; it is the foundation on which the continued growth and impact of citizen science depends.

Cos4Cloud is a EU-funded project that is co-designing, prototyping and implementing a number of new tools and services that address the technological challenges shared by citizen observatories. These services can help citizen observatories to improve data and information quality of observations and can be used as modules, so that any existing citizen science observatory will be able to choose and install the technological services they wish. In this webinar, we will give a short introduction of the project and present two of the services developed: MOBIS and FASTCAT-Cloud. MOBIS is a service to create integrative citizen science apps where you can report all your environmental and biodiversity observations in one Android or iOS app. FASTCAT (Flexible Ai System for CAmera Traps)-Cloud is an open website service that allows you to automatically filter out most unwanted pictures and video streams, keeping images of animals, and to integrate machine learning technology, among other things. The presentations will be followed by a Q&A with speakers. The webinar will last one hour. After closing the webinar we will keep the Zoom channel open for participants to ask further questions and make suggestions about how Cos4Cloud can benefit their citizen science project(s).

The REINFORCE International Youth Art & Science Contest focuses on the concepts of fundamental physics, such as space, time and the nature and structure of the Universe. We are seeking artwork from kids aged 4-18 and all contestants have until 15 September, 2022 to submit their work. The winning entries will be presented during the 2022 European Researchers'Nights events at the European Gravitational Observatory and the finalists will be given the opportunity to participate in a virtual tour of the Observatory and the VIRGO detector (https://www.ego-gw.it). Those able to visit the site for the occasion will have the chance to undertake the tour in person! All participants will receive a REINFORCE Youth Artist Certificate and the artwork from the winners and finalists (a minimum of 3) will be published on the Platform for Artistic Intervention created on the Project website! Since 2019, the INOS project (Integrating open and citizen science into active learning approaches in higher education) has developed activities, experiences and tools to encourage HEIs to be part of this growing movement through teaching, learning, training and taking part in open innovation and knowledge activities. On the 3rd and the 4th of May the INOS project will hold a two-day online event to present the results and outputs of the project. The event will be split into three areas of discussion: - A general introduction to illustrate the ways that HEIs integrate open and citizen science into their practices. (3rd May AM); - A practical approach with workshops on pedagogical tools and best practices developed through the INOS project; - An inspiring discussion on the social role of universities through talks, a Knowledge Café to discuss the social and innovative impact that results from the practising of open and citizen science within HEIs.
