Blue Trails – Navigating Ocean Literacy for a Sustainable Tomorrow
Blue Trails empowered students to become peer trainers in ocean literacy and to help other Romanian schools “find the blue” through freshwater and marine projects. Training sessions, workshops, Erasmus mobilities, STEM events and microplastic activities supported five additional schools in joining the Network of European Blue Schools and strengthened links with marine science and blue careers.
Aim
The project aimed to increase student participation in ocean science by creating a curriculum designed and delivered by students for students. It also sought to extend ocean and water literacy to inland Romanian schools, helping them connect local freshwater issues with the Black Sea and the wider ocean. A further aim was to empower young people as trainers, communicators and advocates for blue education.
