BIG4LIFE

Active

The goal of BIG4LIFE is to promote collaborative strategies for the management, maintenance, impact monitoring, and evaluation of Building Integrated Greenery (BIG) systems.

Through eight representative pilot projects, BIG4LIFE will extend the lifespan of BIG systems by improving their long-term sustainability and the provision of ecosystem services in Mediterranean cities.

Aim

To demonstrate that by applying appropriate collaboration strategies for the management, maintenance, monitoring, and impact assessment of BIG systems, i.e., green roofs, walls, and facades, it is possible to guarantee their long-term sustainable lifespan and the optimal and continuous provision of ecosystem services, with special emphasis on the Mediterranean climate.

How to participate

Participation of volunteers, students, and local stakeholders interested in the maintenance, monitoring, and evaluation of green roofs and other vegetation systems integrated into buildings. These actions contribute to generating shared knowledge about urban biodiversity, ecosystem services, and adaptation to climate change in Mediterranean cities.
